Harlan County State Lake Wildlife Management Area Adventures

Harlan County State Lake Wildlife Management Area is located in southeastern Kentucky, primarily in Harlan County, adjacent to the larger Harlan County Lake. The area features a 1,120-acre manmade lake managed for recreational fishing and wildlife habitat. The terrain surrounding the lake is characterized by forested hills typical of the Cumberland Plateau, combining hardwoods and mixed pine areas that provide important cover for a variety of wildlife species. The lake and management area support populations of largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish, making it a popular destination for anglers year-round.
